“For the world has changed, and we must change with it.”

As we gathered at the office today to watch the historic inauguration of President Obama, these words resonated with me more than any others in his speech. They are insightful and profound. And a bit unsettling.

The last time we gathered as an office to watch TV together was on September 11, 2001. We watched the network coverage received over a satellite dish. Few words were spoken. Many tears were shed. We left at the end of the day numb.

Today was different in many ways. We watched coverage streamed over the Internet to a notebook PC and projected it for all to watch. We chatted actively. Laughed at times. And left with the anticipation that the world has changed.

Now, as marketers, we must change with it. Are we ready?
